Kickoff!
Welcome to the official kickoff of the Sampler Stole Knitalong! We have a healthy number of participants already - you can check out your fellow along-ers on the left. The right sidebar's got some changes as well - I've added a button, as well as a link to download Eva's marvelous progress spreadsheet.
I'm so glad to see that people have gotten started with posting and knitting already. Me? I'm going to cast on tonight with Merino Oro in a dusty rose.

How about you?

well i did manage to start last night, but apparently it wasn't a good time...dropped a yo and didn't get it back properly...no biggie though, i was only on row 3 ;-)
i used the invisible crochet cast on as i was having some serious problems with the other invisible cast on...is there any reason the crochet one shouldn't be used?
thank you eva! :-) the spread sheet is brilliant (if daunting lol)...now all i have to do is figure out how to convince blogger to accept a javascript so i can put up a progress meter

I'm in! As I am finding repeatedly, Eunny's ideas and taste about knitting mirror my own to a startling degree. If only I could knit as fast!
For starters, this very shawl is the pattern I like best in the *Gathering of Lace* book. And, I too prefer to work on smaller needles when doing lace (and for the same reason, so that solid parts are really solid).
I feel a bit silly, in a way, since I just finished a big lace shawl project, but I've never done a KAL and I really wanted to play with the group! So, what the heck.
I'm using a single, huge, gorgeous skein of Skacel's Merino Lace, in teal. It has 1375 yards, just over the 1350 called for (I may also drop a repeat of the central pattern, just to be safe). I hear it's very stretchy, so I should be okay on the length. I did a little swatching, and I think I'll be using US1s.

Thanks so much for organizing this, Eunny! Eva's spreadsheet is amazing, too! I'm hoping to get started next week. Like Agnes, I'll be using Alpaca Cloud, but I'm unsure about needle size right now. I'm hoping a 4 or 5 might work. Take care! :-)
